Jonathan Lyons

I built my career at the intersections — between private and public sector, between founders and investors, between policy and product. Climate-tech decisions happen at these seams: a partnership where neither party speaks the other's language, a financing where structure determines whether the technology gets built, a transaction where value is created in the room before the term sheet exists. That's where I work.

I run Among & Between as a solo advisory practice for climate-tech founders, investors, and operators making decisions where capital, policy, and product intersect. The work takes five shapes: strategic advisory, value advising and valuation, ecosystem architecture, venture building, governance and board service. Most engagements span more than one. Each one is shaped by what the decision actually requires — not by what a service catalog lists.

I started at Dewey Square Group in 2005, structuring public affairs and political-organization campaigns from inside the Democratic infrastructure. I left to build wind farms with Invenergy in 2007 — pre-IRA, pre-PTC certainty, when the sector had no policy tailwind and institutional investors hadn't decided whether clean energy was a category. Wharton MBA followed (Energy and Cleantech Club president); then a decade across energy analytics (Gridium), healthtech enterprise platforms (TigerConnect), and platform-economics (Plume).

I founded Among & Between in 2020. The practice has compounded since: A&B-incubated programs (Groundwork, an 8-week advisory cohort for climate founders), governance, and a growing portfolio of strategic-advisory engagements. I earned the CVA credential through NACVA in March 2026 and joined the Board of The Alliance Center the same year.
